What you will do

• Design, develop, implement, integrate, and support features for the NSX data plane running on the ESX hypervisor.
• Architect virtual switches, VXLAN and Geneve network overlays, physical NIC drivers, SmartNIC solutions, security, and QoS capabilities.
• Develop reliable virtualization data plane technology using C, C++, and Python.
• Analyze, optimize, characterize, and benchmark performance through CPU utilization analysis, memory profiling, and performance tooling.
• Create testing strategies, detailed test cases, test data, and thorough unit and functional testing practices.
• Provide technical leadership, collaborate with DevOps and cross-functional teams, and contribute to patents and publications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of related experience, a master's degree with 10+ years, or a PhD with 7+ years.
• Strong experience designing and developing virtual networking data planes, distributed systems, and large-scale system architectures.
• Demonstrated ability to implement high-performance, highly concurrent, scalable, multithreaded solutions.
• Reliable software development experience with C, C++, and Python.
• In-depth knowledge of multi-core and multithreaded CPUs, pipelines, cache hierarchies, TLBs, interconnects, memory translation, and NUMA.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with performance analysis, benchmarking, troubleshooting, scalability testing, system profiling, and innovative technology proofs of concept.
• Experience with technical evangelism, attracting engineering talent, and fostering innovation.
