Senior Staff Software Development Engineer (C / Networking / Dataplane)

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California, USA, with three days per week in the office

Base salary: $157,500–$225,000 USD per year, excluding commission, bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and implement datapath features for load balancing, firewall rules, and L7 protocols.
• Build high-performance networking and security systems using C, data structures, and algorithms.
• Drive moderately complex projects independently from conception through deployment.
• Apply DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS expertise to global networking infrastructure.
• Optimize networking and security applications on Unix and Linux systems.

Requirements

• Must work in the hybrid San Jose, California office three days per week.
• 8+ years of experience building large-scale commercial networking and security applications.
• Proficiency in C or C++ and strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Professional experience with Linux, Unix, or similar operating systems.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated curiosity about AI tools and experience integrating new technologies into engineering workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-assisted software development tools and workflows.
• Advanced knowledge of DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS.
