Senior Fullstack Engineer (LegalTech)

Location: Washington, DC, US or remote within the US

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 base salary per year, plus stock options and performance bonus eligibility

What you will do

• Build the portal layer where litigators interact with intelligence reports and source citations.
• Develop deep-link architecture connecting assertions to exact page and line numbers in source PDFs.
• Implement PDF rendering for 500+ page documents, annotation tools, commenting, and export functionality.
• Design permissioned multi-tenant workspaces with granular access controls, audit logs, and secure file sharing.
• Create timelines, patent-family network graphs, examiner-search visualizations, and claim-construction heat maps.
• Build faceted search, complex query filters, saved searches, dashboards, and real-time intelligence updates.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building production web applications.
• Expert-level React and modern JavaScript or TypeScript skills.
• Strong backend development experience with Python and FastAPI or Node.js.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and database design using PostgreSQL or Azure SQL.
• Ability to optimize rendering of large datasets and PDFs while maintaining detailed UX quality.
• Track record of shipping user-focused features.

Nice to have

• Experience building document-heavy legal, medical, or financial applications.
• Background in PDF rendering, annotation, and citation systems.
• Familiarity with WebSocket, CRDT, D3, or Recharts.
• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms and real-time collaboration.
• Strong design sensibility and attention to UX.
