Senior AI Systems Engineer (Production Machine Learning and LLM Workflows)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal — hybrid. Only candidates with an existing legal right to work in the European Union will be considered.

hirify.global is hiring for a client delivering AI-driven enterprise solutions in banking and regulated environments.

What you will do

• Design and deploy production-ready AI systems, including RAG pipelines, multi-step agents, and LLM workflows.
• Contribute to end-to-end solution architecture by selecting models, building APIs, and orchestrating scalable components.
• Implement MLOps, LLMOps, and AgentOps practices, including CI/CD, prompt versioning, model registries, and continuous deployment.
• Develop monitoring and observability frameworks for drift detection, latency management, and output quality control.
• Apply AI Security by Design principles, including guardrails, prompt-injection protection, traceability, and auditability.
• Collaborate with data scientists and cross-functional teams, document solutions, and share engineering best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering or AI, including at least 2 years deploying LLM or AI systems in production.
• Experience delivering fully operational AI systems rather than only proofs of concept or demos.
• Strong Python skills with LangChain, Transformers, and FastAPI.
• Deep understanding of AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Experience with GitLab, MLflow, Airflow, model monitoring, observability, and AI Security by Design.
• Fluent English and French are required.

Nice to have

• Experience in banking or other regulated environments.
• Knowledge of GCP or on-premise deployments, particularly secure or air-gapped environments.
• Additional experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, graph databases, or research paper analysis.
