Instrumentation & Controls Engineer (Oil & Gas)

Location: Bellingham, Washington, US; additional locations include Minneapolis/St. Paul and Mendota Heights, Minnesota, and Vancouver, Spokane, and Spokane Valley, Washington. Flexible hybrid work is supported.

Salary: $120,000–$140,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead instrumentation and controls engineering activities across front-end, detailed engineering, and other project phases.
• Prepare instrument and control system specifications, instrument data sheets, and discipline deliverables.
• Review vendor drawings and data while coordinating with suppliers, clients, engineers, and designers.
• Develop P&IDs, equipment and material specifications, logic diagrams, cause-and-effect diagrams, controls narratives, and functional specifications.
• Lead quality management of discipline work processes and resolve technical issues across project teams.

Requirements

• BSc in engineering and at least 10 years of instrumentation and controls engineering experience in the petrochemical or oil and gas industries.
• Experience with DCS, PLC, SCADA, and HMI control and interface systems, including specification and integration design.
• Experience selecting, calculating, and specifying field instruments and control valves.
• Knowledge of API, NFPA, ISA, PIP, IEC, and IEEE instrumentation and controls standards.
• Experience with SIS, SIF, SIL, LOPA, HAZOP, and HAZID activities.
• Eligibility to obtain or currently hold a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (PE) license, with the ability to register with NCEES and in other states where the company practices.
