Controls Engineer (Industrial Automation)

Location: On-site in Rochester and/or Rush, NY, with travel to customer facilities as needed

Salary: $65,000–$98,000 per year, plus potential annual incentive and/or long-term incentives

What you will do

• Design and develop electrical and instrumentation systems for industrial automation and process control.
• Develop and troubleshoot PLC programs using guidance from experienced engineers.
• Create and maintain HMI interfaces that support equipment operation and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with customers, engineers, designers, and skilled tradespeople to define requirements and develop practical solutions.
• Support factory and site acceptance testing, installation, startup, and commissioning.
• Prepare electrical schematics, panel layouts, bills of materials, technical documentation, and supplier coordination.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience; internships, co-ops, and academic projects count.
• Familiarity with Rockwell Studio 5000, Beckhoff TwinCAT, or Siemens TIA Portal.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
• Ability to work on-site in Rochester and/or Rush, NY, and travel to customer facilities as needed.

Nice to have

• Hands-on manufacturing, automation, controls, or instrumentation experience.
• Exposure to multiple PLC platforms or industrial communication networks.
• Creative and practical approach to engineering challenges.
