Data Center Technician 3

What you will do

• Provide proactive customer support through phone, email, face-to-face communication, and internal case management systems.
• Handle trouble tickets and remote hands requests from inception through resolution.
• Complete customer installations, capacity checks, testing, order closeouts, and circuit installations involving Ethernet, SONET, and dark fiber.
• Monitor business-critical infrastructure, alarms, power systems, and security systems, escalating issues to on-call or engineering staff.
• Manage physical security walkthroughs, visitor access, vendor maintenance activities, customer tours, and facility tour readiness.
• Maintain chain-of-custody logs, inventory, customer metered power records, timesheets, cabling standards, and compliance documentation.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; a related college degree is preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience or demonstrated ability to perform the listed data center responsibilities.
• Previous NOC, SOC, IOC, or data center experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of Windows operating systems, including PC and server environments, plus basic hardware troubleshooting.
• Ability to install and neatly manage copper, coaxial, CAT 5/6, fiber, and other network cables and connectors.
• Must have reliable transportation and be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with DS1, DS3, Ethernet, and fiber circuits.
• Basic knowledge of switches, firewalls, and managed storage.
• Experience replacing hard drives, memory, and motherboards.
