Data Center Engineer Intern - Summer 2027

Location: Chicago, United States; onsite at the Chicago office 5 days per week

Compensation: $40.00 per hour

What you will do

• Maintain and optimize data center facilities supporting trading and business operations.
• Work with enterprise servers, high-performance compute, storage, network equipment, racks, cabling, power, and related infrastructure.
• Support the equipment lifecycle from design and procurement through staging, installation, testing, and production deployment.
• Build experience with rack layouts, structured cabling, fiber, copper, power distribution, labeling, and infrastructure standards.
• Assist with hardware troubleshooting, upgrades, inventory, logistics, and lifecycle management.
• Work alongside senior engineers to support reliable, redundant, serviceable infrastructure and operational risk management.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with expected graduation by Summer 2028.
• Interest in data center engineering.
• Familiarity with HP, IBM, and Dell servers, blades, SAN, and Cisco equipment.
• Familiarity with CAT5/6 and fiber optic cabling, SFPs, and other optical devices.
• Understanding of Windows and Linux server administration, including troubleshooting.
• Ability to work onsite at the Chicago office 5 days per week.
