Data Center Infrastructure Specialist

Salary: $77,000–$163,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

What you will do

• Install and decommission network, system, low-voltage, copper, and fiber cabling infrastructure in data center environments.
• Perform fiber optic installations, fusion splicing, field terminations, labeling, cable dressing, patching, and circuit extensions.
• Configure and burn in servers, switches, and other network hardware; test and troubleshoot copper and fiber installations.
• Lay out MDF and IDF closets, read blueprints, maintain redlines and as-built documentation, and complete project handovers and close-outs.
• Track project metrics and SLAs, communicate progress to stakeholders, and resolve project obstacles.
• Lead and mentor technician crews while maintaining data center cleanliness, safety, quality, and change management standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training, certification, or hands-on experience in a related field.
• Hands-on experience with data center network, system, structured cabling, copper, and fiber optic installations.
• Knowledge of cable testing, troubleshooting, terminations, splicing, wiring schemes, and telecom hand tools.
• Basic knowledge of Debian or Ubuntu Linux and experience configuring servers, switches, and network equipment.
• Ability to read floor plans and blueprints, communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, work independently, and guide crews.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on raised floors, ladders, at heights, and in confined spaces, including outside normal business hours when needed.

Nice to have

• BICSI, Fiber Optic Association, CompTIA Network+, or CompTIA Linux+ certification.
• Experience with analog, DSL, circuit extension work, HVAC, power, cooling, DCIM, ticketing, or project management systems.
• Experience supporting government or DoD data centers, colocation or enterprise facilities, telecommunications, or data center moves, adds, and changes.
