Senior Mechanical Designer (HVAC)

Location: Hybrid role in Charlotte, NC, United States; other listed locations include Raleigh, NC, and Greenville, SC.

Compensation: Determined based on skills, experience, qualifications, and location; performance-based bonuses are available.

What you will do

• Develop HVAC and specialized process ventilation designs for construction drawings and specifications.
• Design and evaluate base-building HVAC systems and specialty systems, including fume and smoke exhaust, gas detection, monitoring, and chemical treatment systems.
• Perform load and energy calculations using Trace 700, Carrier HAP, IES, and similar software.
• Survey existing buildings, document HVAC systems, and compare reference and target facilities.
• Develop design calculations, select equipment, prepare reports and studies, and research code compliance.
• Coordinate with plumbing, structural, electrical, fire protection, process, and security disciplines, and support construction administration through RFI responses and field-condition validation.

Requirements

• Must be a US citizen.
• At least 15 years of mechanical design experience, including base-building HVAC and specialty systems.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with codes, standards, design guidelines, and hazardous occupancy classification requirements.
• Strong communication, organization, planning, prioritization, and time-management skills.
