Architectural Designer III - PreK-12

Location: San Francisco, CA, US, with a hybrid work model and regular in-office days. The role supports offices in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, and Los Angeles, and requires travel to project sites and construction meetings.

Salary: $90,000–$135,000 annually

What you will do

• Plan and coordinate architectural scope, including the Discipline Work Plan, with the Project Manager.
• Produce and manage coordinated construction documents that meet quality, technical, and code-compliance standards.
• Coordinate architectural work with internal disciplines, external consultants, school districts, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
• Support code interpretation, permitting, approvals, and coordination with Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
• Research materials, products, and building systems to support detailing and specification development.
• Oversee construction administration activities, including RFIs, submittals, field reports, and technical mentorship for junior staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and architectural licensure or progress toward licensure.
• Minimum seven years of experience in the architecture/engineering industry.
• Proficiency in Revit.
• Demonstrated experience delivering California PreK-12 educational facilities.
• Strong knowledge of Division of the State Architect procedures, the California Building Code, the California Accessibility Code, and educational facility design standards.
• Strong multidisciplinary coordination, communication, organization, mentoring, and deadline-management skills.

Nice to have

• LEED accreditation and an interest in sustainable and resilient design.
• Experience serving as Architect of Record and signing or sealing documents as appropriate.
