Senior Product & Commercial Counsel (AI/Open Source)

Location: Remote in the United States; offices in Seattle and Paris are available for connection and collaboration.

Salary: $178,500–$255,000 USD annually plus equity

What you will do

• Serve as embedded product counsel for Product Management and Engineering across product design, launch, monetization, beta programs, and end-of-life decisions.
• Advise on open source licensing, license compatibility, OSS usage, contribution policies, and compliance across products and distribution channels.
• Draft and maintain product-facing terms, subscription and licensing agreements, beta terms, acceptable-use policies, and documentation for new monetization models.
• Structure and negotiate customer and partner agreements covering SaaS, software licensing, cloud services, IP ownership, indemnification, warranties, and support.
• Counsel on AI-enabled products, training data provenance, model licensing, output ownership, AI regulation, and software supply chain security.
• Build legal playbooks, templates, intake processes, and self-service resources for Product and go-to-market teams.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar.
• 6+ years of relevant legal experience, including meaningful in-house experience at a software, cloud, or developer tools company.
• Deep knowledge of open source software licensing, copyleft and permissive licenses, compatibility analysis, and OSS governance.
• Experience drafting and negotiating SaaS, software licensing, and cloud services agreements, including enterprise IP, indemnity, and liability provisions.
• Technical fluency in containers, registries, CI/CD, APIs, and software supply chain security, plus understanding of AI and LLM legal issues.
• Excellent communication, practical judgment, independent prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
