Director of Product Counsel (AI)

Location: Remote in the Americas or office-based in San Francisco, Austin, Mountain View, New York, Seattle, and other listed United States locations. hirify.global can hire in countries where it has a legal entity.

Base salary: $190,485–$299,625 annually, depending on the United States geographic pay zone. The role may also include benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.

What you will do

• Advise product and engineering teams on emerging legal and regulatory issues involving AI/ML, data governance, intellectual property, and platform architectures.
• Provide generalist legal guidance across products, technical stacks, subject areas, and business models.
• Design repeatable frameworks, launch checklists, and scalable legal guardrails for AI product development.
• Act as the primary legal partner for product initiatives and coordinate with Privacy, IP, Commercial, and Regulatory specialists.
• Develop the Product Counsel function through new operating practices, modern technology, and asynchronous collaboration.

Requirements

• 8+ years of legal experience counseling software products, preferably in B2B enterprise SaaS.
• Juris Doctor degree and a license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Experience in both a law firm and an in-house legal team.
• Strong generalist product counseling skills and the ability to understand technical architectures, product surfaces, and business models.
• Experience evaluating emerging AI, data, intellectual property, regulatory, and platform issues in ambiguous situations.
• Strong writing, simplification, technology, and asynchronous collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in the B2B enterprise SaaS space.
