Engineering Manager (Data Platform)

What you will do

• Lead and grow a mixed team of DevOps, software, and data engineers, including hiring, feedback, standards, and shared on-call ownership.
• Run the data platform as a product in partnership with the Senior Platform Product Manager and data-producing teams.
• Improve platform onboarding, documentation, data reviews, and collaboration with Analytics Engineering and other hirify.global group companies.
• Guide access controls, cost safeguards, audits, data contracts, metadata, and governance for secure data sharing.
• Own reliable Kafka-based event streaming and guide architecture, build-versus-buy decisions, design reviews, and pull requests.
• Use AI tools and automation to improve engineering work and support AI-powered applications accessing platform data.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience leading engineering teams, ideally in data platforms, platform engineering, or infrastructure.
• Strong data or platform engineering background with experience contributing to architecture discussions and design reviews.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses, ideally Snowflake, as well as dbt and orchestration practices.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and AWS.
• Experience operating Kafka, Amazon MSK, Confluent, or Redpanda with a schema registry.
• Knowledge of data governance, including access models, data contracts, catalogues, lineage, and AI agent data access through MCP or A2A.
