GIS Specialist (Remote Sensing)

Location: Hampshire, United Kingdom; onsite with field work and occasional travel within the UK and overseas

What you will do

• Develop, maintain and manage GIS databases, spatial datasets and data quality processes.
• Process, analyse and interpret geospatial information from UAV surveys, GNSS systems, remote sensing platforms and traditional survey methods.
• Create thematic maps, digital cartography products, visualisations, client reports and analytical outputs.
• Manage vector, raster and LiDAR datasets and develop automated or repeatable geospatial workflows.
• Support environmental, infrastructure, land-use and asset inspection consultancy projects.
• Develop training materials, deliver classroom, online and practical GIS instruction, mentor learners and support new GIS, remote sensing and drone mapping courses.

Requirements

• Experience with GIS software and spatial data management, including practical management of geospatial datasets.
• Strong understanding of cartography, spatial analysis, spatial accuracy and data quality principles.
• Experience with some or all of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, QGIS, Global Mapper, Google Earth Pro, web GIS platforms and spatial databases.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly, write reports, present to groups and solve problems independently and collaboratively.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Willingness to travel throughout the UK and overseas as required; the position is onsite and may include field environments.

Nice to have

• Degree in geography, geoinformatics, GIS, geomatics, surveying, environmental science or a related discipline.
• Experience with UAV-derived mapping products, photogrammetry, remote sensing, Earth Observation or LiDAR processing.
• Python scripting, GIS automation, professional GIS certifications or experience with corporate clients.
• Teaching, coaching or mentoring experience and knowledge of environmental, infrastructure or utilities sectors.
