Assistant Quantity Surveyor (Rail)

Location: Hybrid role based in Birmingham, United Kingdom

What you will do

• Support the Commercial Manager and contract delivery team with profitability, cash management, cost control, and accurate reporting.
• Submit applications, control credit processes, and support prompt payment and subcontract liability tracking.
• Prepare cost-value reconciliations, cost-to-complete reviews, forecasts, and monthly financial performance reports.
• Support variation pricing, change control, project risk management, and the full subcontract administration cycle.
• Review site records, allocation sheets, and site diaries, upload documentation, and attend project progress meetings.
• Work with commercial and operational teams on continuous improvement and gain experience across the wider business.

Requirements

• Understanding of income forecasting, variation pricing, change control, project risk, costing, and forecasting processes.
• Understanding of subcontract documentation and the full subcontract cycle.
• Ability to maintain complete, well-organised records and contribute to timely cost-value reconciliations.
• Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement based in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
