General Counsel (AI & Semiconductors)

Location: San Francisco, Chicago, or New York; in-office or remote within the United States. Work hours: Office hours.

What you will do

• Review, draft, and negotiate client, vendor, NDA, consulting, employment, and contractor agreements.
• Advise leadership on operational, employment, intellectual property, confidentiality, technology, and international legal risks.
• Support corporate governance, entity management, board documentation, internal policies, and compliance processes.
• Partner with HR and operations on employment contracts, contractor arrangements, terminations, and workplace policies.
• Build legal templates, contract playbooks, approval workflows, and scalable legal processes.
• Advise on data privacy, information security, regulatory matters, disputes, escalations, and risk mitigation.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with experience in corporate, commercial, employment, or technology-related legal matters.
• Strong contract drafting, negotiation, and legal risk assessment skills.
• Experience advising senior leadership or executive stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of US legal matters.
• Ability to balance legal protection with commercial practicality and operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-growth, global, research, consulting, technology, AI, semiconductor, or data-focused businesses.
• Exposure to international employment, contractor arrangements, and cross-border entity matters.
• Knowledge of IP protection, research publication risk, client confidentiality, and data licensing.
• Experience supporting contractor-heavy or internationally distributed teams.
• Experience as a first legal hire, fractional General Counsel, or startup legal advisor.
