Commercial Counsel (AI)

Location: Hybrid position requiring in-office attendance one day per week at the Atlanta office; candidates must reside within a commutable distance.

Base salary: $165,000–$190,000 USD annually, plus eligibility for a discretionary bonus of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Lead the negotiation and drafting of Master Services Agreements, Data Processing Agreements, order forms, NDAs, and vendor contracts.
• Manage commercial negotiations end to end while partnering with Sales, Procurement, Operations, Product, Engineering, and Marketing.
• Use AI for first-pass review, redline comparison, issue spotting, and legal research while applying independent legal judgment.
• Build AI-enabled legal operations, including playbooks, clause libraries, automated intake, and self-serve workflows.
• Advise on AI development matters such as model terms, training data, customer AI commitments, and emerging AI regulation.
• Track compliance with applicable global laws and regulations and oversee outside counsel work.

Requirements

• 3+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience negotiating technology agreements, terms and conditions, data processing agreements, or similar contracts at a cloud or software company.
• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one state bar.
• Experience with SaaS systems such as CLM and CRM technology, including using them to improve legal operations.
• Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, business partnership, and independent-thinking skills.
• Ability to turn complex legal concepts into simple, actionable recommendations.
• Experience with AI-related legal issues, including data protection, intellectual property, training data, vendor model terms, or emerging global regulation.
