Staff Engineer, Manufacturing Equipment Engineering (Sputter Media)

What you will do

• Oversee maintenance, troubleshooting, line issue management, and equipment availability for sputtering systems used in hard disk media production.
• Lead reliability, preventive and predictive maintenance, equipment upgrades, machine conversions, and technology improvements.
• Manage equipment installation, commissioning, acceptance testing, and engineering projects within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Analyze equipment performance, reliability trends, OEE data, and failure causes to implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Collaborate with Process Engineering, Sputter Yield, Production, Quality, Facilities, OEM suppliers, and technical partners to improve yield, reduce defects, and maintain production targets.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship, maintain engineering documentation, and support automation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8–12 years of experience in equipment engineering, preferably in sputter media, semiconductor, vacuum coating, or advanced manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of vacuum systems, sputtering equipment, automation systems, equipment control architecture, and thin-film deposition processes.
• Experience with PLC systems, diagnostic tools, equipment modifications, and control system interfaces.
• Strong analytical, data analysis, project management, communication, and technical writing skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.

Nice to have

• Experience in sputter media or semiconductor manufacturing.
• Knowledge of high-vacuum technology and plasma physics.
