Engineering Team Lead (AI)

Location: Barcelona or Madrid, Spain; office-first with on-site work several days a week and remote work when appropriate

Salary: €62,000–€71,000 gross annual

What you will do

• Lead a team of 4–7 engineers while writing and shipping production code every week.
• Review pull requests, pair on difficult problems, unblock engineers, and contribute to technical decisions.
• Learn the customer journey and shape the product roadmap with the team and business stakeholders.
• Design and review RFCs, APIs, integrations, and solutions for scalability, performance, and quality.
• Run weekly 1:1s, mentor engineers, support development, and participate in hiring.
• Help drive AI-native product development through experimentation, safe implementation, and practical use of AI-assisted tools.

Requirements

• Experience leading or acting as a technical lead for a small engineering team.
• Strong full-stack experience shipping and maintaining production software, with a willingness to continue coding regularly.
• Experience designing APIs such as REST or GraphQL and building integrations.
• Experience solving production scalability, performance, and quality challenges.
• Experience building or contributing to AI-powered features or workflows that reached production.
• Ability to understand LLM limitations, evaluate output quality, use real data, and design safe, auditable workflows with human oversight where needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ruby on Rails and React.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools for coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
