Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Madrid, Spain; office-first hybrid schedule with on-site work several days a week. Remote work is supported when appropriate, and the hiring process is fully remote.

What you will do

• Lead and grow an engineering team while remaining close to technical and product work.
• Learn the customer journey, shape the roadmap, and connect technical decisions to customer and business outcomes.
• Review team RFCs, guide architecture and implementation decisions, and coordinate initiatives across engineering teams.
• Hire engineers, conduct regular 1:1s, support professional development, and improve team effectiveness.
• Lead the transition to AI-native product development through experimentation, evaluation, and safe delivery practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and challenge assumptions to identify the best solutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer or in a similar role.
• 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams and developing engineers.
• Experience participating in hiring processes and building strong teams.
• Strong experience designing APIs, including REST and GraphQL, and building integrations.
• Production experience with scalability, performance, and software quality constraints.
• Experience building or contributing to production AI-powered features or workflows, including evaluation, data grounding, human oversight, and safe handling of LLM limitations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ruby on Rails and React.
• Experience working with shared platforms and service foundations.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools for coding, testing, debugging, or documentation.
