Principal Systems Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Ariake, Tokyo, Japan; hybrid schedule with regular in-office collaboration and most office-based roles onsite three days a week. Occasional early morning or evening meetings may be required to collaborate with teams in Europe and America.

What you will do

• Analyze OEM customer requirements and derive system-level requirements, specifications, and traceability.
• Define end-to-end Intelligent Cockpit architectures covering displays, connectivity, telematics, audio, voice systems, cameras, and ADAS visualization.
• Create architecture diagrams, interface definitions, technical specifications, and allocate requirements across hardware, software, middleware, and platform components.
• Support Android/Linux bring-up, hypervisor, display and graphics, connectivity, audio, and vehicle network integration.
• Define verification strategies and test plans, support system acceptance testing, analyze root causes, and drive defect resolution.
• Act as a technical focal point for OEM customers and coordinate architecture reviews, workshops, trade-off analyses, and milestones with global engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electronics, computer science, electrical, automotive, or embedded systems engineering.
• 10–15 years of experience in automotive systems engineering, embedded systems, or software-defined vehicle development.
• Experience with automotive infotainment, cockpit, connectivity, cluster, or ADAS systems.
• Knowledge of AUTOSAR, Android Automotive, Linux embedded systems, hypervisors, CAN, Ethernet, LIN, UDS, DoIP, ISO 26262, and ISO 21434.
• Familiarity with SysML, UML, or Model-Based Systems Engineering.
• Professional working proficiency in English and Japanese is required, along with successful completion of a background investigation.
