Staff Failure Analysis Engineer (Power Semiconductors)

Quality Assurance role supporting power semiconductor failure analysis in Penang, Malaysia.

What you will do

• Perform device-level fault isolation, defect analysis, and characterization of power ICs for RMA cases, customer issues, production test failures, and internal investigations.
• Identify root causes of product failures in power supply applications and production testing.
• Use electrical and physical failure-analysis methods, including ATE, curve tracing, probing, microscopy, CSAM, X-ray, FIB, SEM/EDX, cross-sectioning, and deprocessing.
• Prepare clear technical reports for internal and external customers.
• Communicate failure-analysis results and address customer questions and concerns.
• Provide findings that support improvements in product design, process technology, and applications.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of failure-analysis experience with power semiconductors, analog ICs, and/or mixed-signal IC devices.
• In-depth understanding of digital and analog circuits, device physics, and IC fabrication processes.
• Ability to interpret IC ATE test logs, system-level and PCB-level schematics, IC schematics, and CMOS and bipolar IC layouts.
• Excellent spoken, reading, and technical written English is required.
• BS degree in Electronic Engineering or an equivalent discipline is required; an MSEE is preferred.
• Role location: Penang, Malaysia.

Nice to have

• Direct experience communicating with customers to resolve quality problems.
• Automotive failure-analysis and customer-communication experience.
• Thorough understanding of switch-mode power supply design and AC-to-DC power-conversion topologies.
• Hands-on power-supply or PCB-level testing and fault-isolation experience.
