Data Center Technician (in Santa Clara, CA)

Location: United States. The role is fully remote for candidates living outside a 30-mile radius of a hirify.global office. Candidates within a 30-mile radius must work hybrid, with three office days per week. The position supports the Santa Clara, California data center, five days per week, and includes on-call responsibilities.

US base salary range: $52,600–$139,000 per year, plus possible bonus, stock, and other incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, storage arrays, network equipment, racks, cabling, PDUs, and related infrastructure.
• Monitor system performance, power usage, cooling, cabinet capacity, power balancing, and environmental conditions.
• Perform hardware and software maintenance, patches, upgrades, security procedures, and off-hours change windows.
• Execute capacity plans and space/power allocations defined by the Data Center Engineering team.
• Maintain DCIM asset inventories, configuration documentation, tickets, shipping and receiving records, and RMA activities.
• Collaborate with IT teams, engineers, vendors, and remote-hands personnel to resolve issues and support production services.

Requirements

• Approximately 2–4 years of hands-on experience with data center compute, networking, storage, cabling, racks, and PDUs.
• Strong knowledge of networking, servers, storage hardware, data center security, and industry best practices.
• Experience with server and storage hardware from multiple vendors, including vendor support and RMA processes.
• Experience with virtualization or infrastructure technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, and VMware.
• Linux/Unix system administration, networking, SAN connectivity, command-line, troubleshooting, and automation skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; ability to support 24x7 customer-facing production environments and lift up to 75 lb.
