IT Systems Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; hybrid with regular onsite presence at the San Francisco office. Occasional travel to company events and other hirify.global locations is expected.

Salary: $134,400–$176,400, $151,200–$198,450, or $168,000–$220,500 base salary annually, depending on geographic tier. Equity is offered.

What you will do

• Own the architecture, reliability, roadmap, and technical standards for identity, access, device management, endpoint security, and IT automation platforms.
• Design and deploy onboarding, offboarding, access lifecycle, device enrollment, posture enforcement, and employee self-service automation using APIs, SaaS integrations, AI agents, and LLM-based tools.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives from architecture and design documentation through rollout, partnering with Security, Engineering, People, and IT teams.
• Evaluate vendors and build-versus-buy options, maintain security and compliance controls, and resolve incidents by addressing root causes.
• Manage the San Francisco office technology, including network connectivity, Wi-Fi, A/V, equipment, meeting rooms, Zoom Rooms, Neat systems, and Cisco Meraki networking.
• Provide discreet, proactive executive support, mentor IT Support Specialists, and coordinate with ISPs and vendors.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in IT, systems engineering, or a similar role, with experience owning platforms.
• Deep expertise in identity and access management, device management for macOS and Windows, or endpoint security and zero-trust tooling.
• Strong scripting and automation skills with Python, TypeScript, Bash, or PowerShell, including APIs, SaaS integrations, AI coding assistants, and LLM-based tools.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects and communicating technical tradeoffs to technical, non-technical, and executive audiences.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise networking, switching, Wi-Fi, firewalls, ISP circuits, conference-room systems, and video conferencing.
• Must be based in San Francisco and regularly present at the San Francisco office. Comfort supporting senior executives with discretion and calm under pressure is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with identity governance, access lifecycle automation, zero-trust networking, endpoint detection and response, or Terraform for IT systems.
• Experience building AI-powered IT workflows or agents, including MCP servers and LLM-driven ticket triage or onboarding automation.
• Experience supporting security and compliance programs from IT, opening a new office, or coordinating vendors and network circuits.
• Experience at a fast-growing, remote-first company or a company serving developers.
