Staff Full Stack Engineer (TypeScript)

Location: Hybrid in Palo Alto, California, United States; in-person work required Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Salary: Bay Area base pay of $190,000–$254,000 per year, plus potential equity, benefits, and company bonus.

What you will do

• Set technical direction for health web experiences and contribute to the first full-time engineering team in the healthcare vertical.
• Design and develop user-facing applications from UI architecture through the APIs and backend services they depend on.
• Build and maintain frontend applications with TypeScript, Next.js, and React.
• Contribute to Kotlin backend services, integrations, and microservice-based systems using Redis, Postgres, Kafka, and AWS.
• Own frontend performance, reliability, quality, optimization, and incident management.
• Guide engineers through pairing sessions, code reviews, and architecture reviews.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience focused on user-facing web applications.
• Deep experience with TypeScript, Next.js, React, and modern frontend tooling.
• Experience with scalable frontend architecture, state management, component design, performance optimization, and software testing.
• Working experience with backend systems, service APIs, data processing, messaging services, and microservice architectures.
• Experience with cloud services, preferably AWS.
• Production experience with Node and JVM applications, including Java, Kotlin, or Scala.

• Experience operating consumer-facing web products at scale.
• Experience working on distributed teams across time zones and borders.
• Strong product, UX, data-driven decision-making, and startup-like execution skills.
