Staff Engineer (Fullstack)

Location: Hybrid position within the NYC office; U.S. work authorization required

Base salary: $205,000–$235,000 per year, plus equity and an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Architect, build, and scale backend and frontend systems supporting critical healthcare workflows.
• Develop APIs, integrations, platform improvements, and new product capabilities across legacy and greenfield systems.
• Optimize system performance, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and developer experience.
• Lead technical initiatives and influence architectural decisions across engineering and cross-functional teams.
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering quality, operational excellence, and software stewardship standards.
• Use AI-powered development tools, automation, and AI-assisted engineering practices to improve velocity and quality.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building and scaling production software systems across legacy and greenfield environments.
• Strong full stack engineering experience across backend systems, frontend applications, APIs, infrastructure-adjacent work, and integrations.
• Direct experience with Rails, React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Postgres, Redis, Sidekiq, RSpec, and Capybara.
• Deep experience with software architecture, systems design, scalability, reliability, and performance optimization.
• Experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and influencing architecture without formal authority.
• U.S. work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare, healthtech, HIPAA-regulated, or highly compliant environments.
• Experience with platform modernization, monolith decomposition, or large-scale architectural migrations.
• Experience with AI-assisted engineering workflows, developer tooling, or automation.
