Cloud Architect, Expert (AWS/Azure)

Location: Oakland, California, US. Hybrid work from a remote office and in person at the Oakland Corporate Office 1–2 times per week or as required by business needs. The HQ location is flexible within the Bay Area Region.

Salary: $140,000–$238,000 annually, with a Bay Area midpoint of $189,000. The role is also eligible for discretionary incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Design secure, scalable, and cost-effective architectures across AWS and Azure.
• Lead modernization and migration strategies for legacy and on-premises workloads, including 7R disposition planning.
• Define cloud architecture specifications, reusable AIDLC factory patterns, reference architectures, and Well-Architected Framework reviews.
• Embed identity, network, compliance, data governance, and security controls into cloud solutions.
• Partner with engineering, application, testing, Cybersecurity, DevOps, infrastructure, finance, and business stakeholders.
• Develop automation scripts and tools, optimize data workflows, and drive FinOps-based cost, performance, and reliability improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Cloud certification such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of IT experience including application modernization or cloud migration in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• At least 5 years of architecture or software development experience.
• Strong AWS and Azure knowledge, including cloud cost models, automation, infrastructure integration, and security practices.
• Expert communication skills and experience leading or collaborating with offshore teams and finance or accounting stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python, SQL, cloud-native automation, Power BI, ServiceNow, and Terraform.
• Experience forecasting AWS and Azure generative AI services.
• Experience migrating with AIDLC and defining cloud cost policies and procedures.
• Professional or specialty AWS and intermediate or advanced Microsoft certifications.
