Legal Counsel (AI/Cybersecurity)

Location: New York City or the immediately surrounding area; hybrid

Annual base salary: $200,000–$250,000

AI cybersecurity startup developing a continuous penetration testing platform that identifies novel vulnerabilities through automated offensive security.

What you will do

• Build and lead the legal function across commercial, privacy, and AI matters.
• Draft and negotiate SaaS agreements, MSAs, DPAs, NDAs, partner agreements, and vendor contracts.
• Partner with Sales and Finance on complex B2B enterprise transactions.
• Advise Product, R&D, and Security on privacy, data use, intellectual property, technology licensing, and AI-related matters.
• Create contract templates, negotiation playbooks, approval workflows, and escalation processes.
• Support SOC 2, ISO 27001, corporate governance, employment matters, internal policies, and external counsel management.

Requirements

• J.D. or equivalent law degree and active bar membership in good standing.
• Authorization to serve as in-house counsel in New York or eligibility for the required registration.
• 5+ years of relevant legal experience with substantial commercial, privacy, data protection, and AI-related work.
• Prior in-house legal experience at a cybersecurity company.
• Experience building legal infrastructure and negotiating complex technology agreements with US B2B enterprise customers.
• Based in New York City or the immediately surrounding area.
