Product Lawyer (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based in San Francisco or New York City; Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are in-office days

Salary: $188,000–$221,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Serve as the primary legal partner for products and features from early design through launch and post-launch review.
• Advise product, engineering, policy, marketing, commercial, and other cross-functional teams on legal and compliance risks.
• Review product launches, feature changes, user-facing disclosures, and marketing claims.
• Build scalable legal processes, frameworks, templates, and practical product guidance.
• Advise on privacy, regulatory, healthcare, consumer protection, intellectual property, and AI-related matters.
• Monitor emerging laws, coordinate with external counsel, and provide actionable risk analysis.

Requirements

• 5+ years of legal experience, including 3+ years in product counseling.
• Prior in-house experience at a technology company.
• Working knowledge of privacy and data protection, consumer protection, and intellectual property issues affecting technology products.
• Ability to explain complex legal and regulatory concepts in clear, practical language.
• Ability to manage high volumes of projects, tight timelines, and competing priorities independently.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement from San Francisco or New York City, with three required in-office days per week.

Nice to have

• Expertise in intellectual property, AI, or software and technology transactions.
• Familiarity with large language models and responsible AI principles.
• Experience at a growth-stage, AI-native, or healthcare technology company.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, state health privacy laws, FDA, FTC, healthcare fraud and abuse laws, interoperability, and information blocking rules.
