Enterprise Architect, Principal - Compute and Storage

Location: Oakland, California, United States. Hybrid work from a remote office with 1–2 days per week at the Oakland headquarters based on business needs; the assigned work location must be within the PG&E service territory.

Salary: $155,000–$210,000 expected range; Bay Area range up to $265,000. Eligible for discretionary incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Define and evolve enterprise compute and storage target architectures across on-premises, hybrid, AWS, and Azure environments.
• Develop modernization, resiliency, platform consolidation, and operational-efficiency roadmaps.
• Establish standards and reference architectures for compute, storage, backup, replication, disaster recovery, and data protection.
• Design workload placement, infrastructure platforms, storage ecosystems, recovery patterns, and cloud-native integrations.
• Guide architecture reviews, technology selections, vendor evaluations, RFPs, and infrastructure transformation initiatives.
• Coordinate infrastructure, security, application, data, and operations teams while mentoring engineers and architects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, platform, enterprise, or solution architecture.
• Experience designing and governing enterprise compute, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and resiliency architectures.
• Strong knowledge of hybrid cloud, virtualization, infrastructure operations, AWS, Azure, and enterprise-scale data protection.
• Experience balancing business, technical, operational, security, and regulatory requirements in large enterprise environments.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to influence senior leaders; TOGAF or equivalent architecture experience is valued.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Experience with code, automated testing, CI/CD, code quality, and performance engineering.
• Experience in regulated, high-reliability, or security-sensitive environments.
