Chief Systems Engineer/Architect Lead (Cloud Security)

Location: Onsite at USMEPCOM Headquarters in North Chicago, Illinois; occasional travel to CONUS/OCONUS locations is required.

Salary: $185,000–$225,000 annually

What you will do

• Advise USMEPCOM leadership through senior-level technical briefings on architecture, engineering alternatives, technology risks, modernization priorities, and innovation.
• Design enterprise solutions spanning applications, cloud services, data centers, networks, storage, and security while maintaining interoperability with existing systems.
• Develop modernization roadmaps, gap analyses, milestones, schedules, measurable outcomes, and total-cost-of-ownership inputs.
• Guide software-defined networking, Application Centric Infrastructure, virtual routing and switching, Zero Trust networking, and software-defined data center initiatives.
• Design hybrid-cloud, high-availability, backup, COOP, and disaster-recovery solutions supporting scalability, workload mobility, and service continuity.
• Support secure integration, Agile/DevSecOps delivery, RMF and STIG implementation, technical documentation, training, and program reviews.

Requirements

• Active Secret security clearance is required.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• At least five years of recent enterprise-level IT architecture and engineering experience across network domains.
• At least one cloud security or cloud-related technology certification is required.
• At least one year of recent experience delivering executive-level technical briefings and presentations.
• IT-II/Tier 3 or Tier 3 Reinvestigation eligibility and a Common Access Card are required.

Nice to have

• Two or more cloud-related technology certifications.
• ITIL certification.
• DoDI 8570.01 IASAE Level III certification.
• DoDM 8140 Foundational Qualifications Advanced Standard.
