Senior Litigation Counsel (Gaming Technology)

Salary: $304,000–$380,000 annual base salary plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Defend Discord in state attorney general lawsuits and investigations, including civil investigative demands and subpoenas.
• Develop litigation strategy and supervise outside counsel on dispositive motions, injunctions, appeals, venue matters, and coordinated proceedings.
• Lead settlement analysis and negotiations while partnering with Product and Safety teams on proposed commitments.
• Oversee discovery, document productions, protective orders, custodial interviews, and data collection with eDiscovery, Data Science, Engineering, and paralegal teams.
• Monitor emerging online safety, privacy, platform design, and consumer protection laws and assess litigation risk.
• Advise Product, Public Policy, Trust & Safety, Communications, Legal leadership, executives, regulators, and government officials.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 10+ years of combined experience at a respected law firm and in-house legal department, preferably in technology.
• Experience leading government enforcement matters, including state attorney general actions or investigations.
• Experience handling complex litigation through dispositive motions, injunction proceedings, and appeals, while directing multiple outside counsel teams.
• Working knowledge of internet platform liability, including CDA 230 and the First Amendment, as well as minor safety, privacy, and consumer protection law.
• Strong written and oral communication, practical legal judgment, and the ability to manage multiple high-stakes workstreams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Discord, gaming, online communication, consumer-facing technology platforms, or social media.
• Experience with regulatory, platform safety, minor safety, privacy, consumer protection, and internet platform liability matters.
• Familiarity with multi-district litigation, state coordinated proceedings, or patent litigation.
