Pre-Sales Engineer, North America (Database Infrastructure)

Location: USA; based in New York City or on the US East Coast with regular customer visits in New York. Hybrid, full-time role.

What you will do

• Run technical discovery with engineers, architects, quants, and enterprise buyers.
• Design and execute proofs of concept with defined success criteria, representative data, schemas, queries, and performance measurements.
• Lead deployment and architecture discussions covering replication, high availability, backup and recovery, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, RBAC, TLS, SSO, storage tiering, and Parquet queries.
• Deliver customer demos, technical deep dives, security reviews, RFIs, RFPs, and vendor due-diligence sessions.
• Position hirify.global against incumbent time-series databases and manage migration and production handoffs.
• Create reusable reference architectures, benchmark reports, migration guides, sample pipelines, and demo datasets while feeding validated product gaps to engineering.

Requirements

• Must be based in New York City or on the US East Coast and able to meet customers in New York regularly.
• Experience running or supporting technical evaluations with enterprise buyers, including defining and tracking proof-of-concept success criteria.
• Hands-on experience with databases, streaming, or data infrastructure in a pre-sales, solutions engineering, data engineering, or software engineering role.
• Strong SQL and understanding of database internals, including storage layout, partitioning, indexing, query planning, columnar storage, and vectorized execution.
• Ability to communicate technical trade-offs precisely and lead technical sessions independently with customers.

Nice to have

• Experience with columnar analytical databases and capital-markets data such as tick data, order books, market-data feeds, backtesting, or risk systems.
• Experience with Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or Azure.
• Working knowledge of Python and one of Java, C++, Rust, or Go.
• Experience with pandas, Polars, Arrow, Parquet, Grafana, or technical writing.
