Autonomous Systems Engineer (Robotics)

Location: 100% remote within the continental United States

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop robotics software in C++ and Python with a focus on real-time performance, reliability, and production readiness.
• Design sensor data pipelines and implement perception, localization, mapping, SLAM, and sensor-fusion systems using cameras, LiDAR, IMUs, and other sensors.
• Build motion-planning, control, trajectory-generation, and behavioral systems using state machines, behavior trees, or task planners.
• Integrate ROS and ROS 2 with custom hardware and embedded systems, including safety mechanisms such as watchdogs, fault detection, and safe stops.
• Create simulation environments with Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or related tools; conduct field tests, collect data, and analyze results.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, ML, product, and operations stakeholders; document architecture and operational procedures; and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Five or more years of robotics software engineering experience.
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python and production experience with ROS or ROS 2.
• Hands-on experience in perception, localization, motion planning, or control, plus sensor fusion and Kalman or particle-filter techniques.
• Experience with Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or MuJoCo; debugging real-time and concurrent systems; and integrating hardware or supporting field tests.
• Must work as a full-time W2 employee in the continental United States. New H1B sponsorship is unavailable; qualified candidates with a valid H1B may receive transfer support.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Robotics or a related field.
• Experience with autonomous vehicles, drones, industrial automation, safety-critical software, or ML-based perception pipelines.
• Open-source contributions in robotics.
