Senior Software Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Hybrid in Cambridge, MA, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and may be subject to a government security clearance process.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and optimize software that enables robotics tasks and interfaces with internal and external systems.
• Integrate research capabilities into production autonomy systems and real-world unmanned aerial vehicle platforms.
• Implement features, interfaces, end-to-end capabilities, and enabling pipelines across onboard and offboard software.
• Write and supervise clean, efficient, maintainable C++ and Python code.
• Build software development, test, evaluation, integration, and resimulation pipelines for large-scale datasets.
• Collaborate closely with software and hardware engineers to mature autonomy components into robust systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of software development experience in a C++ environment, with strong C++ or Python skills.
• Experience applying software engineering to robotics or computer vision applications.
• Experience with robotics middleware such as ROS2 or protobuf and Linux-based development.
• Experience with Git, code review, integration testing, CI/CD, test-driven development, and evaluation testing.
• U.S. work authorization is required; a government security clearance process may apply.

Nice to have

• Experience in autonomous driving or similar robot software development environments.
• Familiarity with SLAM, cameras, sensor fusion, motion planning, physical devices, sensors, network protocols, and real-time systems.
• Experience with drone software such as ArduPilot or Betaflight.
• Familiarity with defense software platforms such as Android Team Awareness Kit.
• Experience with Bash and Python scripting.
