Robotics Software Engineer (Semiconductor Automation)

Location: Chelmsford, Massachusetts, United States; work arrangements may include a mix of in-office and remote work depending on role and business needs.

Base salary: $94,280.13–$127,555.47 USD annually, plus an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Develop embedded software for new and legacy robotic automation products, including robot motion control, vacuum subsystem interfaces, and self-diagnostics.
• Design and maintain robotics and motion-control software for advanced automation systems.
• Develop trajectory generation, multi-axis coordination, synchronization, and motion-performance optimization.
• Contribute to EtherCAT-based distributed control architectures and industrial networking solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, product management, customers, manufacturing, and field service on product features and field issue investigations.
• Define software requirements, participate in design reviews, develop automated tests, and improve DevOps and zero-defect processes.

Requirements

• Proficiency in C++11 or later.
• Experience with embedded real-time, multithreaded, and interrupt-driven systems such as QNX or Real-Time Linux.
• Experience with object-oriented design, revision control, remote debugging, software release processes, and modern SDLC practices.
• Experience in robotics software development, machine automation, or industrial control systems.
• Experience with robotics, kinematics and dynamics, motion planning, motion control, servo-control architectures, EtherCAT, industrial networking, or distributed control systems.
• Employment eligibility in the United States is verified through E-Verify.

Nice to have

• Experience addressing customer field issues or working with robotics applications in semiconductor and industrial automation environments.
• Experience with FPGA-based systems and hardware/software integration.
• Familiarity with Python, JavaScript, MATLAB, or similar scripting languages.
