Vehicle Autonomy Integration Engineer

Location: Hybrid schedule from the North Kingstown, Rhode Island facility, with regular hands-on vehicle integration and testing; up to 25% travel. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance are required.

Salary: $150,000–$185,000 annually, plus equity and bonus opportunities.

What you will do

• Integrate autonomy software with autonomous vessels, drones, ground vehicles, and other unmanned platforms.
• Connect and validate vehicle controls, autopilots, sensors, actuators, embedded compute, and platform-specific interfaces.
• Configure and troubleshoot command and telemetry paths, including MAVLink-based systems.
• Integrate and debug GPS/INS, IMUs, cameras, radar, lidar, environmental sensors, and vehicle communication interfaces.
• Support system bring-up, bench and hardware-in-the-loop testing, dockside and ground testing, sea trials, flight tests, and field demonstrations.
• Build integration tools, scripts, configuration files, documentation, and repeatable procedures while collaborating with autonomy, embedded software, hardware, field operations, and product teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, mechanical, or aerospace engineering, robotics, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Experience integrating software with real hardware, including robotic platforms, vehicles, sensors, actuators, or embedded systems.
• Programming or scripting experience with C++, Python, Bash, or similar languages.
• Linux experience and the ability to troubleshoot using command-line tools, logs, telemetry, and network diagnostics.
• Working knowledge of at least one interface such as CAN, serial, Ethernet, UDP/TCP, or MQTT, plus strong systems thinking and debugging skills.
• Must work from the North Kingstown, RI facility on a hybrid schedule, travel up to 25%, hold U.S. citizenship, and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Nice to have

• ROS or ROS 2 and distributed robotics software architecture experience.
• MAVLink, ArduPilot, PX4, MAVSDK, MAVROS, QGroundControl, Mission Planner, or similar autopilot ecosystem experience.
• Experience with CAN bus, serial, Ethernet, MQTT, DDS, Docker, embedded Linux, NVIDIA Jetson, or edge-compute platforms.
• Experience integrating autonomous vessels, drones, ground vehicles, vehicle controls, actuators, motor controllers, propulsion, or autonomy sensors.
• Maritime, drone, robotics, defense, dual-use technology, hardware-in-the-loop, field-testing, or prior security-clearance experience.
