Software Engineer (Back End)

Location: Hybrid role based in the Boston office in Charlestown, Massachusetts, with 3 days per week in the office

Salary: $139,500–$151,000 per year in Massachusetts

What you will do

• Develop Elixir applications for order processing, store pacing algorithms, and real-time event handling.
• Build and maintain APIs and WebSocket protocols connecting cloud event streams with on-premise Python-based robotics applications.
• Design complex business logic for order prioritization, B2B features, and store-level resource management.
• Manage and optimize PostgreSQL databases to maintain data integrity and minimize order-processing latency.
• Champion reliability and high uptime across the Infinite Kitchen product line.
• Participate in the engineering on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Elixir and Phoenix, or significant experience with another functional language and willingness to learn Elixir.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and database design.
• Understanding of real-time communication, including WebSockets and Phoenix Channels, and event-driven architecture.
• Familiarity with RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Ability to work from the Boston office at least 3 days per week; employment visa sponsorship is not available.
