Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, based in the United States

Salary: $152K–$282K base pay annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Lead the technical direction and architecture for hirify.global integrations with third-party AI assistants.
• Build production LLM-backed applications, tools, protocols, and in-conversation interfaces.
• Define reusable abstractions, APIs, contracts, and platform-specific integration patterns.
• Develop evaluation, regression testing, monitoring, latency, cost, and incident-response standards.
• Partner with Security, Legal, and Compliance on authentication, consent, sensitive data, and financial compliance.
• Guide technical roadmaps, lead design and code reviews, mentor engineers, and resolve complex production issues.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3+ years at Staff level and deep experience with production backend systems.
• Hands-on production experience with LLMs, including tool use, function calling, MCP or similar protocols, prompt and context design, RAG, evaluations, and non-deterministic output.
• Advanced knowledge of TypeScript and modern technologies such as Node, React, GraphQL, Postgres, and Redis.
• Experience designing APIs and shared services, including versioning and backward compatibility.
• Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, OAuth, and security practices for sensitive data.
• Must be based in the United States and work remotely.

• Experience building applications, connectors, or agents for major AI assistant platforms.
• Experience shipping AI features in regulated industries such as fintech, lending, insurance, or healthcare.
• Experience with AWS, CI/CD, containerization, and observability for LLM systems.
• Experience mentoring engineers across employee and contractor teams.
