Backend Engineer (All Levels)

Location: Hybrid role based in the San Francisco, California or New York, New York offices; in-office work is required on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Salary: $170,000–$250,000 per year base pay, plus equity for full-time roles.

hirify.global is a Series A startup building an AI-native disputes automation and fraud prevention platform for financial institutions.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain backend systems integrated with credit card, banking, and merchant platforms for chargeback management.
• Scale and generalize the platform to support configurable workflows and a broad range of use cases.
• Architect and develop robust microservice patterns, backend frameworks, and reusable libraries.
• Upgrade coding practices, CI/CD pipelines, deployed systems, programming languages, and third-party dependencies.
• Identify and implement infrastructure and system optimizations that improve operational efficiency, performance, security, and product quality.
• Own key features end to end, including technology-stack decisions, system design, development, and deployment.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development experience, including at least 2 years using Go or Java in production.
• Experience working on platform teams and contributing substantially to system architecture.
• Experience delivering a key product feature end to end or re-architecting or upgrading a key platform service.
• Strong knowledge of software fundamentals, algorithms, data structures, and industry design patterns.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading project teams as the sole technical lead.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
