Staff Software Engineering, Backend (All Teams)

Location: Hybrid role with in-office time expected in San Francisco, New York, Sunnyvale, or Seattle

Salary: $193,800–$285,000 USD annual base salary, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Develop, release, and operate large-scale web applications.
• Define backend architecture and technology stacks for product areas.
• Improve the performance, reliability, scalability, and security of backend systems.
• Lead the transition from a monolithic codebase to microservice-based architecture.
• Set technical direction, lead complex cross-team initiatives, and shape long-term system roadmaps.
• Mentor engineers and improve engineering practices across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
• 8+ years of industry experience.
• Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor across design, code generation, testing, monitoring, and release.
• Experience with service-oriented architecture, REST APIs, unit testing, and architectural design.
• Understanding of modern web technologies and architecture, including HTTP and REST.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including technologies such as Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch, and RabbitMQ.
