Senior Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: US remote eligible; must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity. Occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites may be required.

Salary: $248,000–$310,000 USD base pay, plus potential bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

What you will do

• Define and drive the technical vision and multi-year strategy for the Content Platform organization.
• Lead the transformation toward an AI-driven system that converts marketing briefs into complete campaigns.
• Own architecture across CMS platforms, no-code authoring tools, rendering infrastructure, and an agentic layer.
• Resolve ambiguous, high-impact technical problems spanning multiple teams and systems.
• Lead architecture and design reviews, establish engineering standards, and represent Marketing Technology in company-wide technical forums.
• Mentor Staff and senior engineers and partner with engineering, product, design, and marketing stakeholders.

Requirements

• 15+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including organizational-scale technical leadership.
• Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• Deep expertise in backend systems, service-oriented architectures, distributed systems, and microservices.
• Production experience architecting and scaling agentic or AI-driven systems.
• Experience with Java and/or Kotlin, LangGraph, GraphQL, relational and NoSQL databases, and Redis.
• Ability to set technical vision, influence engineering standards, and drive execution across multiple teams and stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Marketing Technology or Growth platform systems.
