Instructional Designer (Canvas LMS)

What you will do

• Consult and collaborate with institutional leadership teams to design and build online learning experiences in Canvas.
• Design, curate, structure, revise, and align content, activities, and assessments across Canvas LMS and related products.
• Create original visual assets using Illustrator, Photoshop, Google Draw, Adobe Stock, and similar tools.
• Develop accessible course content with HTML and Canvas’s Rich Content Editor, meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
• Collaborate with instructors, subject matter experts, and curriculum writers across online, hybrid, blended, self-paced, and classroom-based courses.
• Manage multiple small- to medium-sized projects, including deliverables, timelines, hours, recommendations, and stakeholder communication.

Requirements

• Exceptional instructional design experience in Canvas LMS is required.
• Portfolio demonstrating eLearning experiences built in Canvas for web and mobile platforms, including graphic design assets.
• Experience applying instructional design practices, learning or education technology theories, Universal Design for Learning, copyright principles, and accessibility guidelines.
• Advanced graphic design skills with tools such as Illustrator, Photoshop, or Google Draw; basic HTML, authoring tools, instructional design software, and LTIs.
• Strong written and verbal communication, active listening, presentation, facilitation, organization, and multi-project management skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in education, design, marketing, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Understanding of credentialing, assessments, and alignment.
• Master’s degree in instructional design, adult learning, educational technology, curriculum and instruction, or a related field.
