Senior Python Engineer - Pre-trade (Gas & Power Industry)

Location: Houston, United States; hybrid with at least 3 days onsite per week

What you will do

• Build and support cloud-native applications, APIs, microservices, and event-driven solutions on AWS.
• Develop Python backend services and automation for market data, pricing, analytics, and pre-trade workflows.
• Implement infrastructure as code with Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, and observability.
• Apply secure software-development practices and optimize performance, reliability, scalability, and AWS costs.
• Lead technical, code, and architecture reviews while mentoring junior and mid-level engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on backend object-oriented development experience with event-driven and distributed services.
• 5+ years of experience developing complex Python applications, high-volume data processing, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• 5+ years of experience deploying Python applications in AWS, including technologies such as Kafka, Redis/ElastiCache, RDS/Aurora, and S3.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or Quantitative Finance.
• Must work from Houston in a hybrid setup with at least 3 onsite days per week.
• Visa sponsorship is available only under treaty-based TN and E-2 visas for eligible Canadian, Mexican, and French citizens; H-1B sponsorship or transfer is not supported.

Nice to have

• Experience in energy trading, commodities, market data, pricing, or financial markets.
• Microsoft Azure experience, including Athena or Redshift.
• Experience with C#/.NET, React, or Angular.
• AWS or Azure certifications.
