Senior Counsel, Intellectual Property (AI)

Location: Washington, D.C., United States

Base salary: $122,000–$163,000 per year, plus discretionary bonus, equity awards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Manage the trademark and domain name portfolio, including clearance searches, naming reviews, filings, prosecution, and enforcement.
• Handle brand protection matters, including cease-and-desist letters, platform takedowns, and third-party notices.
• Draft, review, and negotiate marketing, events, media, sponsorship, content, and co-branding agreements.
• Review marketing, advertising, and communications materials for intellectual property and legal risks.
• Build IP playbooks, templates, intake processes, and training for marketing, brand, and HR partners.
• Support invention disclosures, subpoena intake, litigation coordination, and broader IP matters.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active admission to at least one US state bar.
• At least four years of intellectual property practice experience, including meaningful trademark or commercial IP experience.
• Strong knowledge of US trademark law and general knowledge of patent and copyright law.
• Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, preferably in marketing, events, media, or branding.
• Ability to manage high matter volume, prioritize stakeholders, track deadlines, and use AI and workflow tools.
• Access to export-controlled information requires US-person status, eligibility without export authorization, or eligibility and a reasonable likelihood of obtaining the required authorization.

Nice to have

• In-house experience at a technology company or experience with software and cloud computing business models.
• International trademark prosecution and enforcement experience, including EU and UK matters.
• Experience with subpoenas, discovery, litigation support, or high-growth and recently public technology companies.
• Undergraduate or advanced degree in a technical field.
