Firmware Engineer (Embedded)

Location: South Jordan, Utah, United States; in-office five days a week

What you will do

• Develop and debug embedded firmware for bare-metal microcontroller systems.
• Partner with hardware engineers to bring up new boards and support product development.
• Implement actuator control for motors and solenoids, including PID tuning and dynamic control.
• Integrate and analyze optical, thermal, and reflective sensor data with a focus on signal processing and noise reduction.
• Debug low-level interfaces including USB, UART, SPI, I2C, PWM, and GPIO.
• Build internal C or C++ tools for testing, automation, and manufacturing, while contributing to reviews, documentation, revision control, and the full product lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science; robotics or controls emphasis is preferred.
• 1–3 years of embedded firmware experience, or strong project or internship experience for new graduates.
• Strong C programming skills and experience with bare-metal microcontroller development.
• Experience with electromechanical systems, actuators, precision control, and low-level embedded debugging.
• Strong communication, documentation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Must work in the South Jordan office five days per week and generally have United States citizenship or current permanent residency because visa sponsorship may not be available.

Nice to have

• Exposure to C++ and/or Assembly.
• Robotics or control systems experience.
