Senior Hybrid Cloud Operations Engineer (Houston)

Location: Houston, Texas, United States; hybrid schedule with onsite work required 2 days per week. Up to 10% travel to data centers, offices, or other company locations may be required, including occasional travel outside normal business hours.

What you will do

• Own complex infrastructure work from analysis and planning through implementation, validation, documentation, and operational handoff.
• Administer and troubleshoot Linux and Windows systems, enterprise servers, virtualization, storage, networking, backup and recovery, clustering, and data center technologies.
• Design, maintain, review, and safely deploy production automation with Ansible, Terraform, Bash, Python, Git, APIs, and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Support VMware, OpenStack, Hyper-V, KVM, AWS, and comparable private- and public-cloud platforms.
• Lead diagnosis and recovery for complex production incidents, including root-cause analysis and preventive actions.
• Improve monitoring, security, vulnerability remediation, patching, disaster recovery, runbooks, architecture documentation, and operational standards.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience independently delivering and supporting complex production infrastructure.
• Advanced production experience with Linux, Windows, Ansible, Terraform, networking, Git, scripting, cloud, security, storage, and backup or recovery.
• Experience across enterprise data center, virtualized, private-cloud, public-cloud, and hybrid-cloud infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls, load balancing, TLS, SAN/NAS, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, and SMB.
• Ability to identify risks and dependencies, define testing and rollback strategies, and deploy production changes safely.
• Must provide after-hours support and participate in on-call or critical escalation activities as required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience with AWS, VMware, OpenStack, Hyper-V, KVM, Commvault, Veeam, Backup Exec, or comparable technologies.
• Experience with HAProxy, Apache/Nginx, FTP/SFTP, Postfix/SMTP, MySQL/MariaDB, Docker, Prometheus, Grafana, BIND, and Windows or SQL Server failover clustering.
