Medical Writer (Oncology)

Location: United States; remote role

Salary: $85,000–$95,000 per year, depending on qualifications; eligible for an annual bonus program or commission incentive.

What you will do

• Conduct extensive literature reviews across oncology disease states, therapeutic advances, research trends, and clinical data.
• Synthesize medical literature, clinical practice guidelines, clinical trial data, levels of evidence, unmet needs, and therapeutic utility.
• Develop accurate written content for manuscripts, digital and video learning, slide decks, events, and other deliverables.
• Manage content through faculty, peer, and internal review cycles and prepare submissions at each stage.
• Fact-check referenced literature and supporting artwork for scientific and clinical accuracy.
• Use AI tools for literature searches, outlines, and drafting while rigorously verifying all AI-assisted output.

Requirements

• Advanced degree such as an MS or PhD in life sciences, biomedical sciences, or another healthcare-related field, or a clinical degree such as PharmD.
• At least 2 years of medical writing experience in the medical communications industry.
• Familiarity with oncology across disease states and therapeutic areas.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and InCopy.
• Strong written and verbal communication, scientific accuracy, attention to detail, and time management skills.
• Ability to work in a regulated environment and follow FDA requirements and the AMA Manual of Style.

Nice to have

• Experience using AI research and writing tools in medical or scientific writing.
• Examples of AI-assisted workflows that improved research efficiency, draft quality, or turnaround time for complex oncology content.
