Associate or Senior Editor, BMC Psychology

Location: Shanghai or London, with a hybrid working model

What you will do

• Develop the journal strategy for BMC Psychology in alignment with journal performance, development needs, and the wider BMC series.
• Identify and commission reviews, collections, and supplements while working with the scientific community to develop content.
• Oversee peer review and editorial handling, assess manuscripts, advise editorial board members, and handle submissions when required.
• Investigate and resolve publishing and research integrity cases with support from the Research Integrity Group when needed.
• Build relationships with authors and editorial board members, recruit and train board members, and host board meetings.
• Promote the journal through website content, conferences, blogs, social media, and engagement with relevant research communities.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent qualification in psychology, mental health, or a related field.
• Knowledge of editorial processes, scientific research, and a relevant subject area, with an interest in open access publishing.
• Excellent communication, influencing, analytical, critical appraisal, time management, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to handle non-routine circumstances, adapt to change, solve problems independently, and collaborate with colleagues at all levels.
• Willingness to travel occasionally and represent BMC at external events.
• Editorial experience is required for the Senior Editor level.
